A Whirlpool Beside the Pool

At Casa Viduleto, a luxury new-build villa near Felanitx, a Waterwave BS 302 was installed right beside the 12 × 4 m pool — on a removable sand base finished with gravel and craned in over the hedge. A premium extra for a high-end holiday rental, with nothing permanent changed about the house.

Project Overview

Casa Viduleto is a 2018 natural-stone villa in the quiet countryside near Cas Concos and Felanitx, in the south-east of Mallorca. With 289 m² of living space, four en-suite bedrooms and a 12 × 4 m pool with panoramic views, it is let to holiday guests as a luxury rental (see casaviduleto.com).

The owner wanted the whirlpool in the gravel beside the pool terrace — set into the garden rather than onto built ground, and without altering the property. So the brief was a spa that could sit there cleanly and, if ever needed, be taken up again without a trace.

We built a levelled sand base, set perfectly horizontal, placed the Waterwave BS 302 (200 × 200 × 82 cm) on it and finished around it with gravel — so it looks as if the whirlpool simply stands on the gravel beside the pool. The base is fully removable. The unit was craned in over the hedge and connected via the owner’s certified electrician — installed in one day.

Preparation & Installation

Because nothing about the villa was to change, the preparation was reversible. In the gravel beside the pool terrace we built a sand base, set it perfectly level, and later finished around the whirlpool with gravel so it blends in — nothing poured, nothing anchored to the building. The owner’s electrician brought a certified supply to a small fuse box. On installation day, the wrapped whirlpool was lifted from the truck in the lane and craned over the hedge, straight onto its base beside the pool.

The terrace beside the pool could not be reached with the whirlpool by hand, and nothing was to be built on the property. So the unit went in by crane: wrapped and strapped, lifted from the truck in the lane and swung over the hedge, then lowered under guidance exactly onto its prepared base.

The base itself is fully removable — a levelled sand base, finished with gravel, that carries the load through the whirlpool’s own weight. Nothing is poured and nothing is fixed to the villa, so the spot can be restored to its original state at any time.

RESULT

A Poolside Spa for a Luxury Rental

The BS 302 now sits on the terrace right beside the pool, framed by the garden and the view toward the Sant Salvador monastery. Because the base is removable, nothing about the villa was permanently altered — for a high-end holiday rental, it is a premium extra that leaves the house exactly as it was.
